Jacob's Hospital Visit

Jacob and I are spending our second night in the hospital tonight. Yesterday when we woke up in the morning I took his temperature because he felt warm. It ended up being 100.4. I took it a second time just to make sure, and it was 100.5. So, I called the doctor and they scheduled me an appointment for 11:00 am. Once I got there the doctor looked over him and took his temperature again. This time it was 99.1. He told me that since his temperature got to be 100.5 that I needed to have him admitted at the hospital.

We got to the hospital around noon. He had a spinal tap done, an IV put in, a cathedar put on to catch a urine sample, and he is wearing a heart monitor.

They told me that 98% of the time it is nothing. They said it is usually just viral, but just in case they need to run all of these tests. They also said that if the baby is under 6 weeks old they "over react", because the one time they don't it is something very serious.

We have to wait at the hospital for at least 48 hours for all of the test results to come back. In the meantime, they are monitoring and treating him for all kinds of bacterial infections, just in case.

I have a feeling it is nothing. But he has been very fussy lately and his stool has been pretty runny. He has also been spitting up more than usual. They gave him something for his tummy to help with acid. They said he might have reflux. We'll see.
Say a prayer for him!
